Flickr and other photo sharing sites can be used in multiple ways both professionally and personally. These provide a facility to share the photos thus facilitating social networking and making friends easy. Not only friends but the people of the same family, community, creed, tribe, etc or with common interests can share their photos with utmost ease and without paying a single penny. It also gives professionals an opportunity to share work related photos through these sites. These are also a very good source of enjoyment. Time can be killed effectively and pleasurably through seeing and sharing the photos, videos, comments through these sites. There are number of groups of people with common interests and passions on flickr and on other similar websites which offer numerous ways to share the content including photos, videos, text etc. with optimum liberty. These sites, particularly Flickr, does not allow its users to upload obscene, nude, offensive or the material of the similar nature and at the same time it also protects intellectual property rights by giving the freedom of people to categorize their materials according to their wills. Its upon them whether they allow a free usage of their uploaded photos, videos etc or apply any condition upon them. A very useful feature of all these websites is that no one can access your content without your permission i.e. do not let people see or utilize your stuff by protecting it through the options available at flickr.

Exploring is a wonderful feature of flickr. I love it since it helps a lot in finding right pictures of high resolution. Geotaging, groups are also very good.

Visit is an abstract concept that means a groups of hits ( intervals between hits are less than 30 minutes) that made by one real visitor. It also provides various statistics of your blog. one can easily understand usability of a specific blog and ultimately determine reliability and authority of the content available at a particular blog.

Technorati.com will add a lot of value to my library services. This can be utilized in the provision of various information services. For instance, in providing latest news regarding any topic. it would be useful to wet my findings on any query from various blogs. Replies to questions can be generated from technocrati.com.
Of course, the ability to monitor people's tags to their conversations & contents definitely offer additional portals to my products and researches. The tags facilitate in searching any contents easily and quickly.
The information offered by tecnorati.com can be integrated in multiple ways into the research delivered to the users. One can utilize the information on technorati to answer the queries of users. Technorati indexes hundreds and thousands of posts daily being posted on various blogs maintained by professionals and subject specialists. Through technorati, expert opinion can be sought and the information can be incorporated into the research. This will enhance the authenticity of the information.
How would you maintain authority and reliability to information pulled out of technorati? This question is somewhat difficult to answer. As far as my understanding regarding the authority and reliability of the information pulled from technorati is concerned, the number of people quoting or using the information will determine the reliability of the content. Rising blog post by attention are those blog posts which have mostly accessed and caught maximum attention of the readers while browsing the blogs which have claimed with Technorati.com. These have been sorted by level of attention attained.

Similarly, Rising News stories by attention are the stories taken from News sources and arranged and sorted by attention level of the readers..

On the Rising Posts and Stories tab, when we select blogs it only shows the blog posts sorted by attention level and when we select blogs and news from drop down menu, it shows both news items and blog posts sorted similarly.

In Tags from What's Rising of Technorati.com, at this point of time, blogers are talking on various issues. The tags assigned to their writings include business, businessnews, celebirty news, company & product profiles, domestic news, entertainment, free, guardian.co.uk, health, innovationnews, mergersnews, news, politics, society, sport, the guardian, uk news, weather, world news, worldnews.

I have visited blog central and noticed that words of daily usage have been utilized as tags by writers of top blogs. Using everyday language has many benifits. It make searching a lot easier and interesting. One can find information very quickly without wasting time.

Searching libraries through tag search at advance serach shows a page describing that this is libraries tag page at technorati and technorati has searcehed farthest blog posts assigned "libraries" a tag. It exhibits informational links about different kind of libraries including PDF Libraries, Public libraries etc. in google ads section. It returns the results of posts on various blogs which have/had been assigned a tag "libraries". There are two drop down menus for selection of different options to make search specific. These drop down menus are showing "any authority" "all languages". there is another search box with the text "filter this tag by...". The menu in which "any authority" is visible have four options i.e. any authority, a little authority, some authority, a lot of authority. Similarly, the language menu has options to select any language among the almost all commonly used languages. These languages help in searching posts in any particular language. The search box is about filtering the tag. I believe that it may be used for narrowing down the search already completed.
It is very interesting experience to search www.sla.org through url search in the technorati website. it produces links to a number of blogs tagged with SLA. These are mostly from SLA members. It is another useful way of networking of SLA members.
Searching through authority can be used for narrow down the search and to recognize the most authoritative blogs and blogpost by them to whom people identify as authority of the field.
Browsing of blog's directory is wonderful and provides accurate information but sometimes it seems difficult to locate exactly the same blog in the tag search which you have seen in a category while browsing the directory. its only because a huge number of results returns while searching through the tag and it is difficult to narrow down the results to a single and specific blog or blogpost.

Usage of delicious.com in professional setting

I will definitely use this site into my professional setting. Because it will make my job very easy. I am sole librarian here in my organization i.e. Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) (www.smeda.org.pk). SMEDA is an autonomous body working under Ministry of Industries and Production, Government of Pakistan. As evident from name, we work for promotion and development of SMEs in the country through provision of business development services. Being a Sole librarian, I perform all the tasks to manage SMEDA Information Resource Centre. Besides other technical operations in the IRC i am also responsible for provision of reference services to our clients. For this very purpose i have to browse information resources housed at SMEDA-IRC as well as internet to find information related to the reference query. Previously i took a lot of time to reply to a single query for which there is no ready made reply available. I often forgot websites from where i had took information to response like queries. Delicious.com has provided me a platform where i can manage my sites and use my bookmarked sites whenever it would be required. I will also share this site with my professional colleagues similarly will ask them to share your bookmarked websites with me in order to get collective benefits. I will communicate about my delicious.com website within my organization so that my colleagues at SMEDA can get benefit out of it. Sharing my delicious.com site within SMEDA will unload a lot of work burden from my shoulders. Reason being people at SMEDA will be able to search themselves regarding their queries.

I have found some very useful websites during a little time spent browsing on delicious.com. I have been working in a set up developed for SMEs development in Pakistan. I have created an account at http://www.delicious.com/ enabling me to bookmark my favourites on internet. i believe that this will help me to access my favourites not only on my own computer but also anywhere through internet. This is very interesting experience to explore and make use of this social bookmarking site. The site offers a lot of chances of sharing each others' bookmarks. It also facilitates its users in bookmarking the right and most useful sites through its "people" feature i.e. it tells that how many people have bookmarked a particular site you are intended to include to your favourites at your delicious.com. The website's feature of note writing about a particular web link enhances one's understanding about the site without seeing it physically. What are blogs? This question was always scaring me till i did not start learning it through SLA 23 Things. Now i have created my own blog i.e. http://www.muhammadasifmunir.blogspot.com/ . 23 Things tells us about a lot of options to creat the blog. Some of them are wordpress, bloglines, livejournal etc. Mashable's list of 40 free blogging tools is also given to provide more and more options of creating a blog for learners matching to their style, mood and requirements. The design and layout of the page, provided as learning guidance at SLA 23 Things, is simple. Although it poses some problems to new learner in understanding its content and to follow practice instructions but overall its good. Learning this section of 23things requires a little more time than mentined for new users/participants. Time allocation should be more realistic keeping in view learning pace of the users.

I have been doing SLA 23 Things from last three weeks. It is really a wonderful experience of learning by doing. It offers very flexible learning. One can learn in his/her own style and convenience. In the first week, it only tells about the basics and history of the project. It offers sufficient time period for every activity so that a participant can understand the activity well and implement it into practical library settings. Creating something your own is alwayas fascinating. SLA 23 Things provides opportunities to the participants to create new spaces/places on internet for themselves. The project empowers learners to tailor and customize these tools according to their needs and circumstances. I am loving it.
